MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Happy New Year!

The Sunnyvale Sister City Association has exciting plans for 2017! On March 4th and 5th we are holding the second Robot Programming Class, this time at Sunnyvale Community Center. University students and a professor from the Kyushu Institute of Technology in Iizuka will take kids on a crash course in robotics and practical programming. The class will be open to all middle and high school students in the Sunnyvale area, and applications open soon! Also in March, SSCA will have its second cherry blossom hanami (flower viewing) picnic in Braly Park. Cherry blossom blooms are hard to predict from year to year, so we'll provide cherry blossom updates as bloom season approaches. In June our yearly exchange program will see 18 Sunnyvale middle and high school students travel to Japan for two weeks of cultural exchange and friendship building. We have every reason to think this year's students will have a wonderful time. This year's Japan experience doesn't have to be restricted to school age kids though; our Adult Exchange Program, now in its second year, offers adults of any age the chance to travel to Iizuka for a program of their own.

We're working harder than ever in 2017 to bring new experiences to Sunnyvale residents. We hope we'll see you and make wonderful memories together this year as well.
